| Sweet corn season has come to a close. Thanks again for all your support. We're concentrating now on making sure our pumpkin crop continues to progress. We've been weeding and weeding to try and keep up, and with all the rain, it's been a challenge. The pumpkins are in full flower now. You can see the small pumpkins as they start out on the vine. We have bee hives near each field to help with pollination. Pumpkins produce separate male and female flowers, so a pollinator is needed to transfer pollen from the male to the female flower. Honey bees are not the best, but they do work. We can also see numerous other bees working the flowers. Each pumpkin flower is only open for one day. Theresa will be coordinating with local schools for tours during October. Contact us if you'd like to be included. Families are invited to come out on Saturdays and Sundays in October for hay rides, corn maze, pumpkin picking, etc. If you're not on our email contact list, please let us know and we'll add you. The members of our contact list recieve first notification as our crops mature. |
